About

This is the Archives, where everything old, dirty, and rotting is sent to live out the rest of it's days. If something in a section has mysteriously disappeared, it probably ended up here. Stories will always be in the Stories section, and will not be moved here.
NOTE: So far, the only content in the archives is news.

News Archives - 2002

9/29/02 - Hello there! Welcome to The Dancing Rhubarb Site! As we have just opened, some areas are still under construction, but feel free to mess around on the stuff that isn't! Also, sign my guestmap at the bottom, and check out the message boards and chat room in the Community!
"Now, since when have vegetables been able to shake their groove on?" - Scotsman, TDR #1, "A New Era of Veggies"

10/2/02 - Hello again! Everything's up and running now! The stories have yet to be published, but you can read an excerpt from the first story, A New Era of Veggies! Check it out!
"Put in a quarter and you get a Coke!" - The Walking Coke Machine

10/7/02 - I realize the copyright information on the bottom is a little far-fetched, but it should still be taken into consideration. No one is supposed to copy stuff from this site without my permission, as I've noted someone has. People's sites are meant to be from them, and if you take that away from them when they dont know it, it can hurt them. It might not seem like it, but it can. Anyway, new poll!
"Hey! You're hat's on fire!" - Scotsman to the Pillsbury Dough Boy, "A Load of Dough"

10/14/02 - Hello again! It seems whispers have been getting out about my site, as two people have already signed up for the site program! I hope it gets more popular! Help spread the word!
"There, there, Mitchell. They didn't mean it. Those mean people didn't know you were trying to get some sleep." - Mr. Haguchi to his pet rhododendron Mitchell, "A New Era of Veggies"

10/15/02 - Yeah, so what if it's been only a day since I updated? A BIG event has happened! The second set of The Dancing Rhubarb Trading Cards have been released!
"Behold the power of incredible greenness!" - Carrie to The Pillsbury Dough Boy, "Over In Yonderland"

10/21/02 - Hello again! I have a new poll up! Also, whoever's reading this, please post on the boards! That's what they're there for!
"You know, that rhubarb is no ordinary dietary supplement." - Mayor, "A New Era of Veggies"

News Archives 2003

2/28/03 - Well, been a looooong while, huh? The problem with the editor is fixed, and I can now announce the re-opening of The Dancing Rhubarb Site! Welcome Back! In other news, all of the updates (like what your reading now) have been moved to the new Archives section, if you actually want to read those henious text blurbs. Also, after an incredibly henious ( I like that word! henioushenioushenious...) wait, the very first The Dancing Ruubarb Story has finally been posted on the net! Check it out in the Stories section. Finally, people, please post on the message board. It's a tough job keeping the cobwebs off.
"He's more like a lumpish mass of bread." - "A New Era of Veggies"

3/14/03 - I've been really sick lately, so I haven't updated. Not that anything important really has happened in that time. The first part of A Load of Dough has been released! Check it out!
"Using one of his many stalks of greenness, he lashed out with incredible green!!!!" - "A New Era of Veggies"

5/10/03 - A Load of Dough has been released onto the Net! Check it out! Also, for those that like made-up words, check out the "Special" column over to the right, and a new poll has been added!
"Now get on with your miserable lives and eat muffins." - "A Load of Dough"

8/2/03 - Phew! Busy summer? I know mine has been. Anyway, when I get more time I'll be typing up "The Dancing Rhubarb 3". Two new links as well, containing hilarious quotes from different chatrooms, and an actual non-joke link, sending you to the Remnants (the book series) community I've grown to love. New poll, and enjoy! Abiento!
"I don't really remember where I've been, or where I am, or where I'm going to." - Papa Rhubarb, "Health Based Relatives"

10/18/03 - Note: the image above was done in Paint, and isn't rendered very good (which explains why it seems to be broken up), but it's the best pic of The Dancing Rhubarb I can get up. For those that have had a hard time picturing TDR, here ya go. This is part of a program here called TDR: Save the Site 2003. Most of the updates here coincide to this event. Please, read on and help our cause.

-Well, after more than two months, another update comes along. And this one's the biggest yet since the opening of the site (wihich is now officially more than one year old, as of 9/30. That's September 30th for all you out there that are not that bright).
First off, the third TDR story, The Fast Food Industry, has been typed up and is ready to be viewed by all. I apologize for the time it takes me to type these stories up, but life is pretty hectic for me (and could possibly get even more so, so watch out). I'll be trying to spend more time in here than I have in the past, even though the community has yet to take off and there's not much to do, aside from typing the stories. Also, I'll be trying to type up the stories I have yet to to get them out to you faster (as I am writing the 10th!), so don't be surprised if another long break comes, although I'll be trying to avoid large ones.
Secondly, in a most likely futile attempt to get people to be involved in the community, I have disabled the members-only feature of the board, so you no longer have to sign up to ezboard to post. This eliminates basically any good reason not to post, so please, feel free to. It's in the Community section, for the not too bright people who didn't feel insulted & left after the first crack and kept on reading.
Third, I've noticed that the Contributions section of the site has not changed since the opening of the site; it has remained dusty and unused for too long. I guess I didn't make it clear that the stories do not have to be TDR related. Any stories are welcome, within reasonable boundaries of course (most of you should be well aware of what those boundaries are, like explicit dialogue and certain four-letter words). Also, stories aren't the only thing that can be submitted. Poems, funny quotes, etc (again, not just TDR related ones) are all welcome, including reviews of the stories! So, any stories, reviews, writings, musings, etc, at all, check out the Contributions section for the info.
Fourth, I've posted a couple of new links in the (whaddya know) Links section. The first is a link to the Trillian site, which is a messenger that takes your accounts from MSN, AIM, IRC, ICQ, and Yahoo, and combines them into one server. Yes, people can still contact you if they don't have it, and you can contact them. It's not a separate messenger, it just combines the others into one program. Very convenient. Very cool. Get it. The regular version is in Downloads (on the site), while the Pro costs money. The original is free. Second link is to an awesome site I found that demonstrates one of the greatest household joys: bubble wrap! Yes, its Virtual Bubble Wrap! Pop a sheet of bubble wrap, and when your done, one click and the sheet refreshes! Endless bubble wrap! A dream come true!!! This is an opportunity that shouldn't be passed up. Plus, many other methods of popping! All in all, it's cool. Check it out.
Finally, a big contest has arisen, even though most people don't really care about the site, so it will most likely flop. As I have stated, I am in the process of writing up the tenth story (and now, typing up the fourth). The 11th is in the process of planning, so this contest will deal with the 12th story. I'm going to have the web audience choose the plot for the story! Any ideas you might have, post in the forum topic I created for that purpose. Contest ends whenever I feel like ending it, which hopefully won't be for a while. Most likely the end of the year.
One more thing: new poll! Then again, I have a new one every time I update, so no biggie. The biggie part is that you should catch on to the hint I'm trying to make about the underappreciated state of being of the site. Please keep the site active and alive. Spread the word to all you know about this place. Post about it in boards. Anything else you can think up to help, try it out. It would be very appreciated.
